  History

Hello my name is Darien Marx, and I am one of the owners and the original founder of what is now known as Countryside Services Incorporated. It all began in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, while working for another drain cleaning company.

I was uncomfortable with the rates that we were charging to the working class, and the people on fixed incomes, with no allowance to cut them a break. It was then that my wife Yvonne and I, along with our two children, Shontay and Dekota, decided to start our own business. Boy, was that hard! Everything was so expensive and getting the word out about us took forever. Well, with mounting costs and the phone not ringing we were led by the spirit to make a big move to northern Colorado and start a small repair shop as I have been fixing things since I was just a kid. Doing a little bit of everything to keep the bills paid. I was all over the place doing plumbing and heating repair, appliance repair, drain cleaning. You name it, I would work on it.

My daughter would say that I was all over the countryside, and the folks in the area said that I could fix "pert near anything," and it all stuck.  So my daughter gets the credit for the name Countryside Services, and the town's people get credit for "We can fix 'pert near anything."

 Then in November of 1999, my wife and  I came back down to Grand Junction to visit my good friend and ex-boss Phil Sawyer from another drain cleaning company, and he told me how bad things were getting at work and then said, "Remember years ago when you said we should start our own business?  Do you still want to? I'm going nowhere here and feel like together we could offer this town a great alternative to high prices." So we loaded up the truck and moved to G.J. We incorporated in the spring of 2000 and out came phonebook ads, and we were off once again, starting a new business in a new town.

 We decided that since we were both from this area that we wanted to treat our neighbors the way that we wanted to be treated, the way that GOD intended it. Our goal is to keep our prices as low as possible and still be able to offer a good salary to our employees, for the highest quality of work.

 We will always try to repair the problem rather than replace and save our valued customer as much money as we can. We believe that the customer is number one and the boss, he or she works hard for their money and deserves a break from high prices.

Our Mission Statement is

We promise to offer the highest quality of service at the lowest price that we can.  We want to let everyone know that there is no need to be afraid of calling the plumber or have to get a second mortgage on the house to pay for one.  Here at Countryside Services, we believe in “honest work at an honest price”.  Let Darien, Phil and the rest of the crew put their 50+ years of experience to work for you.  If it has to do with water, sewer, heat or cold, if it leaks, is plugged, or just plain does not work, call us and we’ll fix it.
