Frostbusters was launched by Fritz Diether (below right) and Richard Ely in Aprilof 1985 in Crested Butte, Colorado. Crested Butte, with its severe winter climate, served as a perfect location for learning the importance of energy efficiency in both new and older homes.

Armed with a brand new Blower Door and Energy Analysis Software, the Frostbusters team conducted Energy Audits and provided the recommended products and services to the customer.

In 1986 and 1987, Frostbusters hosted an Energy Symposium, attracting speakers and guests from around the country. Mr. Diether purchased Mr. Ely’s interest in Frostbusters in 1988. In 2003 Mr. Diether moved to Grand Junction and has spent the past two years remodeling homes in the area.

Frostbusters now stands ready to serve the needs of Mesa County residents by offering a wide variety Energy Conservation Products and Services. Diether notes, “In the process of buying and remodeling four homes ranging in age from twelve to 100 years old I’ve learned a lot about the condition of homes in this area. I’ve also performed energy audits on some brand new and nearly new homes in the area. When it comes to energy efficiency, they all ‘left a lot on the table’”

There is enormous potential for saving energy in Mesa County, and what makes it really exciting is that much of the work that needs to be done is very cost-effective. The work can be done by approved contractors and homeowners (DIY’s) using a combination readily available materials and specialty products.
